Sport at Bass Hill Public School
At BHPS we have physical activity programs for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, with a focus on fundamental movement skills.
K-2 students participate in a regular physical education program which aims to promote skills, fitness, enjoyment and participation. Activities include aerobic exercise, games, fun runs and sporting skills games.
Students in Year 3-6 are involved in more organised sporting activities, which include the development of game skills, fitness, school and inter-school sport (PSSA).
Annual carnivals for students 8 years and older are held in swimming and cross country athletics. All students P - 6 attend the athletics carnival.
Sport and physical activity is a valued and accepted part of our school's curriculum, contributing to the development of the whole child. It provides a vehicle for social, physical, emotional and moral learning and is an important expression of our culture.
The participation, enjoyment and skill development of our students is the cornerstone of the school sport / physical activity program. All our students take part in this program.
There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-sports competitions. As a NSW public school, we benefit from the opportunites for shared actividies and competitions with other schools, coordinated by school sport associations. See the School Sport Unit website for details.
Primary School Sports Association (PSSA)
All students are given the opportunity to trial for Primary School Sports Association teams.
We encourage all students to have a go at sport and hope that those who do miss out one year will try again the next year.
